The “Bilderberg Group” has no official name, their title simply comes from the first location in 1954 at the Bilderberg Hotel in Arnhem, the Netherlands.

1954 – The Bilderberg Group was established in 1954. The original mandate was to strengthen ties between the United States and Europe in the face of a threat from the Soviet Union and communism. May 1954 – One of the main goals of the Bilderberg Group from its official formation at the Hotel Bilderberg in Oosterbeek, Holland in May 1954, was to install a European super-state with a central bank and currency. The first chairman of the Bilderberg Group was Prince Bernhard of the Dutch royal family – a close friend and associate of Britain’s Prince Philip, another Bilderberg attendee.

Then John S. Coleman, president of the Burroughs Corporation and the first head of the CNTP, recommended George Ball as a founding member of the Bilderberg group, which met for the first time in May 1954. Over the years at Bilderberg, Ball was able to present his ideas in support of free trade and European integration to one of the world’s most influentail audiences. George Ball’s main influence was jean Monnet (The Father of Europe) and both shared the belief of the goal of European Integration.

Jul 14, 2004 – The Bilderberg group of the world’s elite, currently meeting in northern Italy and celebrating its 50th anniversary, casts an extensive shadow on the net. 1. At the annual meetings of the Bilderberg group, a clique of some of the world’s most powerful people scheme and plot, carving up the globe for themselves, while occasionally cackling like Dr Evil in Mike Myers’ Austin Powers films.

2006 The group has assembled at least three times in Canada, most recently June 8 to 11 this year at the Brookstreet Hotel in the Ottawa suburb of Kanata. According to a Bilderberg news release, prominent Canadians invited to the 2006 conference included former New Brunswick premier Frank McKenna, Paul Desmarais, CEO of Power Corporation, Gordon Nixon, president and CEO of the Royal Bank of Canada, and Heather Reisman, chair and CEO of Indigo Books.

They got to mingle with the likes of Iraqi politician Ahmed Chalabi, former U.S. secretary of state Henry Kissinger, Richard Holbrooke, key American negotiator for 1995 Bosnian peace accords, Richard Perle, senior foreign policy adviser to U.S. President George W. Bush, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, retired banker David Rockefeller, and Johann Koss, Norwegian Olympian and president of the Right to Play organization.

The news release also said some of the topics on the agenda of the Kanata meeting would be energy, Iran, terrorism and European-American relations. There were no news conferences or communiqués as the meeting wound up.

James Tucker – an American libertarian and journalist – has been a critic of the Bilderberg group for decades.

“When meeting last year in Rottach-Egern, Germany, Bilderberg called for dramatic increases in the price of oil. Oil prices started climbing immediately from $40 a barrel to $70,” Tucker wrote in the days before the 2006 meeting.

Tucker says the group has used its meetings to organize wars and the overthrow of “unfriendly” leaders. It has also been accused of identifying politicians who are friendly to big business and backing their runs for power. Former U.S. president Bill Clinton spoke at a Bilderberg conference a year before his election victory, as did British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The current chairman, Belgian politician and businessman Etienne Davignon, says the steering committee that organizes the annual get-togethers is excellent at spotting talent.

Former prime ministers Paul Martin, Jean Chretien and Pierre Trudeau also made Bilderberg appearances.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper took in the group’s 2003 meeting in Versailles, France, while he was Opposition leader. But Tucker says the Bilderbergers are not pleased with Harper. It’s because of Kyoto. The Bilderberg group, Tucker says, is behind the Kyoto Protocol. They’re the ones who pushed it. Like they pushed NAFTA and the World Trade Organization – and “turned NATO into the UN’s standing army. It’s a step,” Tucker writes, “on the road to creating world government.”

2008 CHANTILLY, VA—While some of the most influential people in the world gathered at the Westfields Marriott hotel in Chantilly, Virginia, from June 5–8, protesters gathered outside the hotel in order to reveal what they say is the Bilderberg Group’s sinister agenda.

“About one-third is from government and politics, and two-thirds are from finance, industry, labor, education and communications. The meeting is private in order to encourage frank and open discussion,” the release continued.

According to Alex Jones, the meeting is a violation of the Logan Act, a federal law that bars public officials from meeting with private citizens to make policy. “Federal law says that they can’t come here and discuss policy with private interest in secret,” said Jones. “The only place they can discuss things in secret is in national security meetings, in the Congress, or in the Capitol, and that’s amongst themselves.

Mar 15, 2009 – The Bilderberg group, in a rare press release last year, laid out a benign if vague mission: creating “a better understanding of the complex forces and … IRS filings show that Fanny Mae’s former Chairmen Johnson as recently as 2006 was the treasurer of a non-profit group called American Friends of Bilderberg.
And I don’t think it’s just Obama. Whether it’s the Republicans or the Democrats – Goldman Sachs generally has somebody in treasury. And the big banks generally have somebody in the Federal Reserve. And they’re international people, too. And they’re probably working very hard this weekend, with the G20. And they get involved in the IMF. But that is their stated goal. They do believe in a powerful centralized government and we believe in the opposite.
